In my college, Inkudu Gunthalu are used as an effective traditional method for rainwater harvesting. These small pits are dug in open areas to collect and store rainwater naturally. When it rains, the water slowly seeps into the ground through the pits, helping to recharge the groundwater levels and reduce water scarcity on the campus.
Students and staff actively participate in preparing and maintaining these Inkudu Gunthalu during environmental activities. This method is low-cost, eco-friendly, and requires very little maintenance. It also helps keep the campus green by ensuring enough water for plants and trees.
The use of Inkudu Gunthalu has taught students the value of traditional water conservation techniques and the importance of protecting natural resources. Overall, this practice has made our college more sustainable and environmentally responsible.
